The Yellow River Bayou Winter Date grows mainly in the hinterland of the Yellow River Delta—Hekou District of Dongying City, Shandong Province. The mature time of this rare fruit is much later than other species. The fruit is almost round weighing 14.6g on average with smooth bright surface, thin reddish brown skin and milky flesh, which tastes soft, juicy and sweet. The contents of different nutrition are as follows: 0.985mg/100g of amino acids, 1.65% of protein, 2.3% of prandial fiber, 17.3% of total sugar, 0.26% of total flavone, 0.87mg/100g of nicotinic acid, 1.1mg/kg of carotene, 10.1mg/kg of vitamin B and 2.2mg/kg of vitamin B2. Its content of vitamin C is as high as 352mg/ 100g, which is 70 times of apple, 100 times of pear, 20 times of Jinsi date, 16 times of mandarin orange and 8 times of Chinese goosebeery. So it is called live vitamin pill. Scientists also found that winter date has a high content of CAMP, which is a major physiological activator that evolves in many physiological activities such as adjusting immune system, enhancing heart muscles, protecting coronary artery, lowering cholesterol and restraining cancer cells.
